Art Deco and utterly fabulous…I just LOVE the Roaring Twenties.

The bride dons her favorite string of pearls and slips her perfect Art Deco engagement ring onto her left finger. She wraps a gorgeous faux fur stole around her shoulders…the perfect accent to her oh-so-authentic 1920s dress. The groom greets his bride at the end of the aisle in a black tux and bow tie paired with some awesome wingtip shoes. Oh this couple is the perfect pair…pun intended.

The golden colors of this wedding were inspired by Marquee Event Group‘s Gold Dust Crepe satin linen.

Venue Spotlight | Hummingbird House

Looking for a colorful outdoor venue for your wedding?

Hummingbird House is a great mix of simple and extravagant with a beautiful garden that encompasses the entire property and white lighting wrapping each tree. This venue was once a private home, but later developed into a cozy, whimsical wedding venue. Located just south of Austin, it is not too far for guests to travel if staying in downtown Austin.

An iron gazebo and stone pathway sets the stage for the bride and groom to share their vows. Hummingbird House not only provides natural and colorful decor with it’s gardens and landscape, it also has a permanent 3,200 square feet white tent that can seat up to 200 guests. White tables, silver chiavari chairs, and chandeliers are all provided by the venue.

Inside the Hummingbird House, there is a bridal suite with comfortable furniture and a large bathroom to prepare for the ceremony. The groom’s suite is located on the opposite end of the property to safely avoid the bride and groom seeing each other before the ceremony.

More cost saving venue amenities include: a dance floor, monogram for reception, ceremony lawn chairs, build in stone bar, surround sound speakers, and much more! Trust me when I say this…all of this stuff adds up! So, it’s nice to have a venue that provides so much, right from the get-go…chiavari chairs, oh my!

Rates begin at $3,000 and go up to $5,200 for rental of the property. Rates vary depending on the season and day of your wedding.

The Design Dish :: Farm to Table Wedding

After eating so much yummy farm to table food at Royal Fig’s event planner luncheon at their new Harvest Room, I just had to whip up a gorgeous board inspired by farm to table cuisine. Think bright, fresh cherries and strawberries…savory squash and zucchini…mouth-watering chicken and beef…all natural and all delicious.

This inspiration board is for our FOODIE brides and grooms! Every detail in the menu from a craft beer bar to an organic fresh cut arugula and tangerine salad could be a multi-sensory experience…I think they call that a food-gasm (hush your mouth!)

We know quite a few venues in the Austin area that are perfect for this type of wedding…from Barr Mansion (with in-house organic caterers who plan menus by the season) to venues like Inn Above Onion Creek (where The Simplifiers were last weekend for a client wedding!) that work closely with Royal Fig catering, The Simplifiers know the best spots in town that create the perfect backdrop for a farm to table wedding.

The Design Dish :: Alice in Wonderland Wedding

Ok, can I tell you a secret?

I kind of, sort of…well.

I love Disney movies.

…especially the ever so quirky Alice in Wonderland [hey, quirky is right up our alley]! Just think…A wedding full of beautiful floral, vintage tea cups…and some *bizarre* little details.

The bride in a sweet tea length dress paired with an amazingly quirky birdcage veil (think this little number by Pixel & Hank). And guests sip pale pink martinis with their crumpets [don't forget the tea!] while playing a wild game of croquet. Oh sweet, sweet Alice in Wonderland…how I adore thee.

The pretty pretty colors of this inspiration board were inspired by Marquee Event Group’s Champagne, Tiffany Blue and Petal Pink satin linens.

Venue Spotlight | The Harvest Room at Royal Fig

We had an absolutely fabulous {and delicious} time at Royal Fig Catering’s VIP Event Planner’s tasting luncheon earlier this week at their new on-site venue, The Harvest Room. It’s a perfect spot for an intimate rehearsal dinner or bridal shower, seating up to 40 comfortably…such fresh, farm to table cuisine…SO yummy!! (I MIGHT be crushing a little hard on this sweet little space)

Who has access to their mom’s wedding dress from the 70′s?

Well, friend…you’re in luck!

We totally love the 1970’s here at The Simplifiers…After all, this was the decade that brought us STAR WARS, but alas, that’s an entirely different inspiration board altogether. Princess Leia’s buns aside, the 70′s also brought Flower Power…Bell Sleeves…Mod Dresses…VW Vans…AND we know how to incorporate such a fun timeperiod into an amazingly beautiful wedding. After all, the 70′s was dubbed the “Me Decade,” a perfect fit for wedding planning, if I do say so myself.

A 70’s wedding is not complete without sunflowers, daisies and baby’s breath…so sweet, cheery and lovely. Mod dresses for bridesmaids are an absolute must – and a gorgeous bell sleeved wedding dress for the bride. Music is a really important detail for this wedding…get a DJ who knows his/her stuff and can spin The Doobie Brothers, Queen, KISS and Rush, effortlessly. And what would a groovy wedding be without a VW van for the getaway car?

The Winfield Inn and The Simplifiers are hosting Bark For A Cause, a fundraising event on Wednesday, May 16^th, 2012 from 6-9pm. Sure to be a casual, family-friendly evening of socializing and fun, plus building awareness on opportunities to contribute to a long-standing organization and cause.

Leaders in the Austin events industry including The Simplifiers, Premiere Party Central, Say Cheese Photo Booth, Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop, Cory Ryan Photography, Central Market, The Lemonade Co., D Zine Graphics, Sweet Stuff, Texas Pie Company, and Simon Lee Bakery are banding together to provide an unforgettable evening under the stars.

Looking for an “old world” atmosphere or love the Renaissance? This venue is filled with many accents that embrace the old world and is great for a couple that wants something very romantic. It’s filled with a lush garden surrounding the grounds and an indoor reception area that suits the atmosphere perfect! It is located in South Austin in the backyard of a couple’s home that have created this garden and the buildings themselves.

It offers many beautiful settings to have your ceremony depending on what setting the bride wants (also depends on the number of guests). The areas where the bride and groom’s party prepare for the wedding are what makes this venue extraordinary. The groom’s stone cottage was named “Knight’s Retreat” with stain glass windows and paintings on the ceiling. The bridal party has access indoors to what resembles a renaissance cottage.

The reception hall is equipped with a sound system, tables, chairs and linens. It has beautiful detail with bronze chandeliers that set the romantic ambiance.

The Design Dish :: Music Festival Inspired Wedding

Testing, testing, one…two…three…is this thing on?

The Coachella music festival in Indio, California was in full force this past weekend…and will continue next. So, we thought we would show a little music festival love through an inspiration board. We are no strangers to festivals here in Austin, TX…Our locale is the perfect place to throw a music festival inspired wedding.

Bunting is a must…along with Bohemian details, tents, guitars, pianos and an AMAZING live band (or 2 or 3 bands, why not!). Consider holding it at Stunt Ranch, where camping is encouraged and make a weekend out of it…Outfit style airstreams with luxurious décor and why not do some “glamping” with the bridal party!

Hire food trucks to provide guests with yummy treats from hamburgers to tiny pies…and everything in between. Set-up picnic tables or lay out quilts for a super relaxed dinner before the nights activities begin!

I can just hear the bluegrass music now…

Ummm…I would just like to say, that I would LOVE to attend this wedding. Seriously…How fun?!?
