The Design Dish :: That 70’s Wedding

Poll for the audience:

Who has access to their mom’s wedding dress from the 70’s?

Well, friend…you’re in luck!

We totally love the 1970’s here at The Simplifiers…After all, this was the decade that brought us STAR WARS, but alas, that’s an entirely different inspiration board altogether.  Princess Leia’s buns aside, the 70’s also brought Flower Power…Bell Sleeves…Mod Dresses…VW Vans…AND we know how to incorporate such a fun timeperiod into an amazingly beautiful wedding.  After all, the 70’s was dubbed the “Me Decade,” a perfect fit for wedding planning, if I do say so myself.

A 70’s wedding is not complete without sunflowers, daisies and baby’s breath…so sweet, cheery and lovely. Mod dresses for bridesmaids are an absolute must – and a gorgeous bell sleeved wedding dress for the bride.  Music is a really important detail for this wedding…get a DJ who knows his/her stuff and can spin The Doobie Brothers, Queen, KISS and Rush, effortlessly.   And what would a groovy wedding be without a VW van for the getaway car?

The cheery yellow colors in this wedding were inspired by Marquee Event Group’s Lemon Yellow Polyester linen.

Oh Queen…how I adore you…
