Event Planner Tip

Go one step further and offer a DIY hot chocolate station!

Give your guests the chance to add their choice of alcohol and toppings to make their own drink with all their favourites. Turn the hot chocolate table into a talking point with a great display of all the alcohol and toppings and we guarantee it’ll become a talking point!

A little advice from us: You might want to consider getting a bartender in to make the drinks if you’ve got a large group and want to keep the station looking good all night!

Casamigos Chocolate Caliente AKA Tequila Hot Chocolate

This is an idea from 400 Rabbits – a tequila and mezcal bar in Nottingham. Pay them a visit and ask them the story behind the name of the bar…boozy hot chocolate

Casamigos Anejo Tequila
Milk
Agave syrup
Chocolate powder
Topping: Whipped Cream or flamed marshmallow foam and chocolate powder
Simply mix all the ingredients (except the toppings) and heat gently. Save the toppings for the last minute when you serve.

Red Wine Hot Chocolate

Yep, it sounds weird but we’ve been assured that it works! However we’ve also been told to avoid the super easy but not tasty version that is simply cocoa powder, milk and red wine.

There are lots of ways of doing this but this is the version we’ll be trying.

Melted dark chocolate
Semi-Skimmed milk
Mulled wine (If you don’t want to make your own, do what this Simplifier does and buy a bottle of it from Marks and Spencer)
Add all the ingredients together except for the wine and heat gently. Pour the mixture into a cup, add a splash of mulled wine, stir and serve!

Salted caramel Rum Hot Chocolate

1 shot of dark rum (25ml)
2 teaspoons of dulce de leche
Whole milk
60g melted milk chocolate
Pinch of salt

Warm the milk over a gentle heat. Meanwhile, mix the rum and dulche de leche in a separate bowl. Add the melted chocolate to the milk until it is thoroughly mixed then pour in the rum and dulche de leche mix and salt. Mix together and serve!

Coconut White Hot Chocolate

1 shot of Malibu rum (25ml)
25g melted white chocolate
Whole milk

Topping: Your combination of whipped cream, dark chocolate powder/chips or toasted coconut flakes.

It’s super simple – Heat the milk gently then stir in the melted chocolate. Add the rum in once everything is mixed and serve.
