The new year is right around the corner, and it’s a great time to start something. You may be thinking, ‘well, I’ve got time… I’ll do that later’ or ‘oh, I’m super busy right now, I couldn’t add another thing to my plate.’
I feel ya. I’ve said those things myself over the years too.
But why do we do that?
It baffles my mind – we know what we need to do to root in a new, healthier habit. Or to get a new initiative off the ground… but something seems to always stops us. Makes us pump the brakes. Or keeps us from even taking the very first step.
What’s that about?
I wanted to get to the bottom of this and decided to invite a friend and CEO of four brands onto the podcast to talk about what she’s learned over the years.
Contents
In this episode, you will learn:
- The most important step when starting something new
- How to overcome the fear, instead of letting it paralyze us from getting something off the ground
- Why you need to STOP some things in order to make room for something new…
Kristy shares the key lessons she’s gained over the years as an entrepreneur.
PLUS, she shares her personal health story. Finding her health slipping away from her in 2017, Kristy had her implants removed. It’s an incredible story. If you’ve got breast implants and a few inexplicable health problems right now, you’ll definitely want to listen through to the end of this episode.
As it’s the holiday season, we’re keeping this episode short and sweet for you. We know you’re darting to and fro, so I hope this episode inspires you to get your new business idea or shiny new project off the ground in the coming months.
Remember, sometimes all it takes is the courage to keep going and take the very next step. You can do it, I believe in you!
#DoTheThing.
My challenge for you this week:
Write about the fears which are holding you back from starting the project, business, or hobby. Journal down how you can move around these fears, so you can go ahead, despite these obstacles.
Share it with me, privately or publicly, by snapping a photo of you doing the thing and tag @thesimplifiers on Instagram for added accountability and support!

Favorite quotes from this episode:
[03:48] “I feel like for a lot of people we all have different things that we struggle with. We all have weak points. We’re all broken and it’s being hyper aware of what’s broken, how and who do you need in your life to help you fix those broken pieces and then mentally get your mindset there that’s like, okay, I’m doing this.” – Kristy
[08:37] “Done is better than perfect. You got to get it out there and I think a lot of times, entrepreneurs or people who want to become entrepreneurs, fear cripples them and they just stop.” – Mary
[09:45] “When you’re an entrepreneur, you operate out of two ways, inspiration or desperation.” – Kristy
[30:43] “When you say goodbye to the 9-5, sometimes you say hello to the 7-11 and you’re working way more hours. It’s so critically important to nourish yourself and to listen to your body and what it needs.” – Mary
Finish strong!
I’d like to remind you to get your 90-minute private coaching call scheduled with me, so you can finish the year strong!
We are running a special deal in the month of November and December 2018 to get a 90-minute 1-1 business coaching call with me, where we’ll focus on 3 parts:
- The first 30 minutes – reviewing how 2018 went for your business, celebrating your triumphs, reviewing your mishaps, and documenting your lessons learned.
- The next 30 minutes – vision casting 2019 ahead, determining how you want to feel, setting your 1-word intention, and helping you identify your big quarterly business goals.
- The final 30 minutes – creating a roadmap for the journey ahead, choosing to either focus on the final 5 steps you will take before the year end, or setting the first 5 steps to take in 2019 to have the Best Year Yet!
All the while, shifting your mindset and helping you get clarity and direction on how to simplify how you run your small business.
Clients have said these sessions helped them “laser focus on what’s most important and learn how to say NO to the rest.”
Another client said, “Mary, I got more value out of 90-minutes with you then I’ve gotten all year long trying to figure all of this stuff out on my own! It’s so nice to have a trusted mentor to bounce all my ideas off of and create a plan with.”
It’s time to SIMPLIFY.
