B122: How to make wise decisions (guided visualization)

Time for a guided visualization exercise: I want to simplify how to make wise decisions. Every single day, we are faced with a 1000 daily choices. Some tiny, some monumental. But all of them make up the rich tapestry of your life. Choose wisely and your life will be surrounded by impeccable people who inspire you to evolve and help make a positive impact on the world. Choose poorly and sleepwalk through the journey by consuming, numbing, and playing small.

What if it really was that simple? I’d like to guide us to consider this thought more deeply today.

 So to kickoff the month, today is another guided visualization episode, which we’ve decided to release on the first Tuesday of every month this season. How does it work? Simple! Let my voice be a guide for you as you focus inward to help you tap into your inner wisdom and Intuition for answers.

Listen and participate in a guided visualization exercise: how to make wise decisions.

Before we get started, here are a few things that you’ll need to do in order to get the most out of this.

1) Create a safe space – no distractions or interruptions

First off, you’ll need to create a safe space where you won’t be distracted or interrupted… and also, keep in mind that during this exercise, you’ll have your eyes closed. So yeah, probably not best to do this one while driving. 

Silence your phone notifications… The world can wait for the next few minutes.

Then, get comfortable in a seated position or lying down, if that feels better. You get to decide. As with all visualization and breathing exercises we do together this year, you always get to decide what is best for you… take what you need, bless and release the rest.

Okay, now close your eyes or avert your gaze to the ground.

2) Take 3 intentional breaths together with me

Let’s take three intentional, life-affirming breaths.

  • Deep breath in through the nose, expand the belly, hold at the top, and then slowly release through the mouth. (Do this three times.)

Now, let your breathing come back to a normal pace, whatever feels right for you.

3) Do a body scan and feel your feet

It’s time to do a body scan… imagine you are slowly scanning your entire body from the tip top of your head, slowly down like molasses, all the way to your fingertips, and then to your toes. 

What sensations do you feel? Knots, sore spots or sourness… or on the flip side, any feelings of harmony, joy, or flow…. just notice what you feel in your body, without judgment or trying to fix it. Just scan down, ever so slowly until you’ve done your entire body.

Once you’re at your feet, really take notice of what it feels like to have your feet make contact with the ground. To be firmly rooted down, the safety and security of that sensation. What do your feet feel like right now?

4) Time to visualize and learn how to make wise decisions

I want you to imagine you are standing in front of two mirrors that are each the full size of your body. However, there is no reflection to see… well, not yet, that is.

In front of each mirror is a pair of shoes. They look familiar and just happen to be your perfect size.

Breathe.

You have a deep intuitive sense that each mirror represents a decision you must make today. Do you choose left or right? However, in order to see the benefits (and consequences) of each decision… in order to see your true reflection shine through on these magic mirrors, you must step into one pair of shoes before you.

Breathe.

Bring forth a crucial decision you must make today that you would like clarity over. 

See it in your mind, feel it in your heart without judgment or story. Place option A on the left mirror and option B on the right. Notice if the shoes below that mirror suddenly change to match this vital decision’s option. Notice if the frame around the mirror changes in any sort of way… if there’s an aura around it, a smell, a warmth or icy coolness that you cannot explain. 

Breathe.

Step into the shoes of the option that calls you forth now.

As soon as you do, you notice the mirror in front of you comes alive! Your reflection is seen and your Intuition has so much to show you. You see how this decision plays out… the roller coaster of emotions it may take you on, the ups and downs in the coming days, months, years or sheer moments ahead after you decide to go down this path. You’ve put yourself in these shoes to fully understand what may lie ahead. 

Breathe.

Soak it all up as if you were taking a mental photograph of the wisdom you are witnessing. 

It might be moving images, whispers from your future self, photographs of triumphs or embarrassing stumbles… a certain song that defines this season of your life or a certain person holding your hand through it all. 

Take note and don’t be afraid to look around corners. Look up, look down, look behind you, and look in your pockets, too. What do you see? Was it a wise choice?

Breathe.

Take this last moment to say thank you with your full spirit and remember that you can revisit this gift any time you wish. It’s yours forever and ever. 

You are never alone and you are always fully supported.

And if what you saw wasn’t what you expected, remember you can do this visualization again and choose the other option. See what changes… have discernment that ultimately, your 1000 daily choices today are yours and yours alone to make. Always.

Take a moment to gather yourself with a deep, belly-filling breath. And when you’re ready, open your eyes.

So, which shoes did you step into? And was it a wise decision?

I want you to set a 7-minute timer, grab a pen and paper, and take this time to write down everything you remember from this visualization exercise. 

  • What wisdom was shared? 
  • What visual clues did you see? 
  • Which mirror and pair of shoes did you choose and why?
  • How did it feel when you said “no thank you” to the other option vs. saying “yes please” to what you went with?
  • What part of this exercise is sticking MOST in your mind and in your heart, that you can’t seem to shake?
  • …and what’s one thing that you can do today (with courage and simplicity) to take action on this vision, in real life?

One final whisper

I’m tired of living my life on autopilot. It’s only taken me this many days of my life to realize it, too.  The Matrix is well crafted to keep us distracted, living for the weekends, and ultimately feeling “not enough.”

I’ve said it once, I’ll say it a million times… “enough is enough.”

I now know that if I become a better decision maker, I lead a richer, more thriving life. Full stop.

You see, I used to waffle over decisions… delay them out of fear or put other people’s priorities ahead of mine so I never had to decide the big stuff. 

It feels safe in your comfort zone but it’s also where people die a lonely, sad, and miserable life… wishing the world would cut them a break or that the most magical person would appear to save them or that the ultimate opportunity would fall from the sky.

But the truth is, none of that happens unless you fully believe you are worthy of love… that you are valuable… and most importantly, that you make magic happen.

Do you believe that now? Like really, truly, unequivocally hell-to-the-yeah that’s who I am, yes?

Because when you do, it does.

When you embody the sheer miracle that is YOU and believe that whatever you desire is making its way to you right this very moment… it does.

The Universe delights in making you right. 

Whatever you believe about yourself, your identity and your path ahead is what will come true. Always has… always will.

So choose wisely.

Step into those shoes.

Listen to what your deep inner wisdom is trying to tell you and show you right now.

Choose with calm confidence and take the very next step. And the next one after that.

I hope this visualization sticks with you the entire week through. Do it again and again if you need clarity or fresh ideas to help you make wise decisions… because when you tap into your deep inner knowing, you’re accessing the Divine. That electric energy that can be found inside all of us that connects us all together. It knows. You know. We all know if we are brave and we open ourselves to it.

You can do this, I believe in you.
