I feel like one of the buzzwords of 2019 is ‘CBD’. Everyone seems to be talking about it in the US, and it’s slowly starting to trickle over into conversations with friends and colleagues in the UK.
But raise your hand if you have NO CLUE what “CBD” actually is.

My guest today, Liz Carlile, explains and simplifies everything CBD.
Liz is the host of The Motherhood Unstressed Podcast and the founder of her own organic line of CBD supplements. We’ll learn how CBD can help with ‘adulting’ – all the things in life that cause us stress, anxiety, and overwhelm.
I don’t know about you, but Lord knows, I could always use a little help, every now and again.
In this episode, you will learn:
- What CBD stands for and the science behind how it works
- What people take CBD for
- More information to help you decide if this supplement is right for you or not
- Where it’s legal
- If CBD will show up on a drug test
- Different ways you can take CBD supplements
- What results Liz and her clients have seen while taking CBD
I love what Liz stands for with her brand. She believes that “the greatest gift we can give ourselves and our families is to be more fully present. When we can get out of our heads and into our hearts, life changes in innumerable ways.” And for Liz, CBD is one tool in her toolkit that helps her get there.
Big disclaimer: please talk to your primary care physician or your mental health specialist before taking CBD, to make sure it’s right for you.

Favorite quotes from this episode:
[05:14] “[CBD] is not going to get you high, but it is going to help you battle stress and anxiety really naturally with zero side effects.” – Liz
[08:09] “I’d heard about CBD when it comes to stress response, I’d heard about it when it comes to anxiety, but you also mentioned on your website it can help with reproductive health, metabolic function, skin health, bone health, digestive system. I mean, wow, this sounds kind of amazing.” – Mary
[08:33] “If we’re thinking about metabolic health, what CBD does, it actually helps with fat browning. So, the brown fat that we have in our body is actually good fat, that fat that when we’re working out or doing anything physical, it burns quicker.” – Liz
[13:42] “The hemp plant has to have less than point three percent THC [for CBD]. If it doesn’t have that, then it’s considered marijuana and then you have a whole host of legal issues that come up.” – Liz
[13:53] “If you don’t live in the US, check your local jurisdiction to see if cbd is legal to purchase and slash or consume in your city, state or country.” – Mary
[23:51] “There comes a point in your adulthood where you go, hang on, I’ve been chasing after bigger cars, corner office, bigger numbers, six figure seven figure and it’s just, a trap. And then you start to realize that adulting, or really having deep contentment in life, is so much different. In that it’s really in relations to your family, your friends, the connections you have in life that make it rich and not the stuff you have in your house.” – Mary
