068: How to fall back in love with your body – with Sadie Lincoln

The Simplifiers Podcast banner/post image

This episode is all about how to fall back in love with your body. It comes at a crucial time of year; the summer months of sunshine, community swimming pools and trips to the beach. Praise Jesus! But, for some of us, the very thought sends us into a tailspin… “Holy crap, I’ve got to strip down to skivvies and put on a swimsuit. UGH.”

If this is you, I want you to know… you’re not alone. I’ve battled with truly loving and accepting my body for as long as I can remember. And so, I figured, “No time like the present!” to hash up this old story, break it down and start to heal by simplifying it.

My special guest today is simplifying how to fall back in love with your body. She’s the co-founder and CEO of barre3, which has over 140 studios around the world. This movement is radically changing how women experience fitness and wellness.

My body, my story

I realize the title of this episode may be triggering for some. You might be thinking, ‘Umm Mary, what if I’ve NEVER loved my body whatsoever?’ Again, I just want you to know that I stand with you, right by your side.

You see, I was the tall, ‘big-boned’ soccer playing girl that was in your class photos when you were young. I was the one in the back row, next to all the boys. I was the one who wore baggy clothes so they didn’t bunch up around my midsection when we sat cross-legged in home room. I was the one who put a giant bow on my bum for my senior prom dress, so you didn’t see my curves. I was the one who had ALL the cover-ups at the swimming pool. A bikini? Ahwl, hell no!

And I am also the one whispering into your ear now, saying this:

“I’m ready for a change. Are you? I’m tired of battling my body and want to reclaim it. I’m ready to turn the page to the next chapter and feel something new. So, let’s do this thing together.”

I promise you that my conversation with Sadie today goes deep. As your guide, I’ll ask the questions you might be feeling in your heart right now. Together, we can heal.
