Today, I’m switching gears and want to give you a little pep talk, just from me to you. When you feel tired or super fatigued… or just need your own personal undercover superhero to cheer you on, play this one over and over again and let my words sink in, as they are just for you.
You are enough.
You’re doing enough.
If you feel like you’re carrying a thousand people’s worries on your shoulders and you couldn’t possibly let anything drop, I want you to know… I see you.
I see you on the school runs. At my co-working space. At that networking event last night, rushing around, watching the clock, trying to give it your all but feeling like you’re running on fumes.
I see you.
And if there was a hand signal I could give you a la Katniss Everdeen style right now, just to let you know you’re not alone… Well, look up and see me hovering over next to the cheese platter, giving you a sign of solidarity right now.
When intense fatigue hits, you feel like a freight train knocked you off your feet. The weight of the world feels heavy and the idea of even getting out of bed seems like too much.
You need a day off… heck, maybe a month off, really! Wouldn’t that be nice, just imagine.
But then the alarm clock goes off. The snooze alarm, it buzzes too. The kids are stirring, the dog is scratching at the door and the notifications are starting to buzz and bing on your phone, right on schedule.
But do you want to hear the good news?
This tiredness you are feeling right now, it will pass. I promise it will. No matter if it’s mental fatigue or physical, this moment will pass and you’ll begin again.
Sometimes we get overwhelmed with the idea of the 80 billion things that other people expect us to do. Just remember, other people’s expectations are none of your business. Nor are their thoughts, feelings, emotions and actions. This includes your clients. Your spouse. Your friends, your dog or even your kids.
The only thing you’re responsible for are YOUR thoughts, feelings, emotions and actions. Nourish yourself and you will then be able to show up for the world.
So if you’re feeling down and out, flattened and exhausted, I want you to truly listen to what your intuition is saying to you right now. That’s that little voice in your heart that rarely is wrong.
Ask her…
“What are you trying to tell me right now? What do you need most to feel replenished and nourished in this moment? Let’s shake this tiredness… what do you need?”
Set a 7 minute timer and then give yourself permission to journal it out, get it on paper and see what comes up.
You might not need a whole duvet day to feel better. Maybe a quick shower will do the trick. Or maybe you need to take your lunch away from your desk today and sit out in the sunshine. Or a big tall glass of cold water. Or maybe you just need a friend to come over tonight to simply sit and be with you. Nothing fancy… just the little things in life that make it better.
So whatever lies ahead of you today – remember, it’s all a choice. And it doesn’t stand a chance against you, your perseverance and your ability to pull from the well of boundless energy that sits deep inside you. Even if you don’t feel it right now, it’s there. And it’s waiting for you to surrender.
Focus on how you can nourish yourself today through healthy food, lots of water, deeper connections, slowing waaaaay down, and any other ways you can refill your tank.
Don’t be afraid to ask for what you need.
There’s no shame there.
In fact, I think it shows your inner strength more, when you are brave enough to reach out to others.
It’s time to take the next step, and move towards getting back to thriving. Everything is unfolding exactly how it’s supposed to right here and right now for you.
And even though you’re tired, you’re letting go of the things that are not yours to carry, freeing yourself of any burdens you were too afraid to release. And you are finding yourself moving towards a different way of life.
This stuff takes time. So let’s just focus on today, okay?
If rest is what you need, give it to yourself. Even if it’s three deep breaths or as extravagant as 20 minutes of meditation. You do you, one day at a time.
One choice at a time.
You can do this, I believe in you.
It’s time to SIMPLIFY.
