Jones Center Roof Deck

In a historic building in downtown Austin, history meets the cutting edge of contemporary art. Atop the iconic structure, now serving its role as a contemporary art museum, is the Jones Center Roof Deck–a unique open air event space that perfectly captures the art-forward Austin spirit while taking in the breathtaking skyline. Its location on 7th Street and Congress Avenue offers gorgeous vistas of most of the major sights in town–from the Texas State Capitol building to the modern high rise condos which echo the urban decor of the event deck.

This setting lends itself more towards private parties and events due to many of the restrictions imposed by the City of Austin that would make events involving live music or other loud events not ideal (a 70 db sound limit is in effect, and all amplified music must be preapproved). Cocktail parties, rehearsal dinners, and more intimate corporate events are better suited for this modern rooftop oasis. Much thought and consideration is taken by the venue proprietors for the enjoyment of the guests–so much so that the venue has taken to providing heel-guards for women attending events on the gorgeous, cleverly-lit slatted deck.

The space’s capacity ranges from 150-220 people depending on seating arrangement and type of event. High season (March 17th-May 5th, September 29th-November 17th) rates range from $2500-4000 for venue rental, which includes a 30’x40’ tent designed to protect guests from inclement weather, since the gallery space below cannot be used to augment event space for rain plans. Mid-season (May 6th-June 30th, September 15th-28th, and November 18th-December 15th) rates range from $1900-2800 without inclusion of the tent. Low season (December 16th-31st, the months of January, February, July, and August 1st-September 15th) rates range from $1550-2450, not including the tent. A $100 cleaning fee is imposed per event.

A membership is required which involves a per-event contribution which is lower for Texas residents and grants perks and museum memberships. Another important aspect to note is that the venue does not currently maintain a TABC license, so alcohol can be brought in or sponsored, providing significant savings for clients.Seating and some tables are provided with Venue rental. Restrictions are in place for times to load in different or additional furniture or large items, and will involve approval from the venue. Bar and restroom facilities are available for guests on the rooftop itself.

  • Hello,
I have come across your website trying to find ideas for our end of the year banquet we have for our dance team. We have around 65-70 people we are interested in brining. I’m looking for some more information about your outside rooftop venue, like what kind of prices would we be looking at for May 7th, does your facility cater food or is there a specific caterer that you would want us to use, and also I read you need a membership, what exactly is that?
If you could get back to me with some more information that would be fantastic! Thanks so much!
