The W Hotel

Take one step into The W Hotel in downtown Austin and you’ll know that style is a very important component to this classy event space. Style emanates from every nook and cranny of the luxurious W Hotel – whether it be its grey, monochromatic flooring all throughout the space, wooden walls, eye-catching lighting, ever-changing art gallery walls, or trail of succulents that seem to pop up in every room.

The W Hotel is extremely unique and is simply gorgeous to look at inside and out. The vibe is European minimalism meets downtown Austin style – elevators are referred to as “lifts”, valet is known as “wheels”, restrooms are donned as “WC’s”, staff will answer to “talent”, and security is called “risk”.

The main floor is home to Trace restaurant, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and includes an intimate private dining area as well as an outdoor plaza. Additionally, there are several “living room bars” – each complete with its own style. One of the rooms has a fireplace with herringbone details and wall to wall records, another, the “secret” bar has a glass wall and all red details. Each of these areas can be used for a multitude of activities, from the bride and groom’s “first look”, to a bridal brunch, or even a rehearsal dinner.

The second floor, which encompasses 10,000 square feet in total, is solely event space, and is only available and open to event attendees. The “lifts” open up to a large, open space with white plush furniture and electronic greeter boards that can be customized with the event’s slide show. This area would be perfect for a welcome area/cocktail hour. The large great room is 4,300 square feet in total, but can be broken down into three spaces. Again, the grey patterned carpet prevails along with large chandeliers giving the space a clean, monochromatic look perfect for matching with any color scheme. The great room would work well for a large corporate event meeting space or a wedding reception.

The outdoor terrace overlooks surrounding downtown buildings, giving it a clean, structural vibe, juxtaposed with the plush lounge furniture and planters. This outdoor space is a popular ceremony area for weddings with a modern feel. Additionally, the second floor is home to four smaller rooms with beautiful natural light streaming in. The largest of the small rooms would be perfect as a bridal suite, as it has direct access to the outdoor terrace. The other three rooms are all equal in size and could work well as children areas, or ready rooms for vendors. All rooms are complete with lounge furniture, TV screens, and tables and chairs for corporate meetings.

The wet deck is a stylish, outdoor area that overlooks the downtown skyline. This area has a lap pool, private rentable cabanas, and two levels of space that can be rented out for smaller, social events. The wet deck has been used for SXSW events, as well as pre-wedding bridal spa parties.

Additionally, The W Hotel has its own spa, known as “Away”. The serene area is dimly lit with a nail bar, treatment rooms, and a fitness area with a yoga room. The fitness area and yoga room have large windows with downtown views, and could be used for a breakout session for corporate events.

Lastly, the hotel of course has guest rooms. The monochromatic, European style continues throughout the rooms with grey carpeting, minimalistic furniture and stand-up showers.

Overall, The W Hotel would be the perfect one-stop shop for any event that is looking to impress its attendees. In essence, a bride could choose this space for the rehearsal dinner, bridal suite, ceremony, reception, catering, floral, and then rent out a block of rooms for guests. It really couldn’t get any easier. Prices vary depending on the month, day of the week, and number of guests. The huge draw for this event space is its downtown, easy access location, and that the event space is all on the same floor.
