My thought of the day – actually, this is my thought of the week!
let me explain…
The Simplifiers have been really busy in the office over the last few weeks and there’s no sign of things slowing down any time soon!
We’re on track to launch our latest version of The Apprentice Program training software for Fall 2016 and it’s all systems GO right now.
We know we can’t change our situation.
We can’t just take things off our to-do list…
Stuff needs to get done!
But stressing, panicking and complaining isn’t going to get us anywhere.
So, we made a plan to manage the workload and make sure we’ve got everything covered.
We’re writing lists and mapping out our gameplan using Trello and generally being proactive instead of reactive. Instead of being stressed and falling apart over things we can’t change, we’re taking control of how we deal with them to make sure we’re handling them in the best way possible.
Plus we’re #eventprofs! If we started falling apart every time we had a mammoth workload and not enough time, we wouldn’t be getting calls from the likes of Facebook and putting together events in less than 4 days. Yeah – that actually happened!
Crisis management, problem solving and being solution-oriented…that’s what people pay us for, right?
These are essential elements of an event planner…remember, when a situation is getting on top of you.
You got this!
I think a key part to dealing with stressful times is giving yourself permission to have a bad day. Get a pint of ice cream. Curl up with a little GoT on Netflix. Cry if you need to, but don’t wallow and definitely DON’T beat yourself up over it. Acknowledge the stress. Say thank you to the anxiety…it plays an important role. Give it space to breathe…but like Liz Gilbert of Big Magic says…
“stress + anxiety…don’t let it drive the wheel.”
Once you give yourself permission to feel the FEELs for 1-2 days, you’ll find it so much easier to get back on the horse and get things done.
Isn’t your to do list long enough without adding “be perfect” to it?
