Look at the people you’re surround yourself with. Who’s in your tribe?
I had been struggling for a few months to move forward with some personal projects – there has been a lot of avoidance, procrastination and feeling the fear but NOT doing it anyway…
At some point, I attended a networking event where I got talking to a life coach I’d met before. She asked me how things have progressed since we last spoke and I confessed I was feeling all annoyed at myself and weirdly guilty for not having more to update her on.
She pointed out perhaps I hadn’t been surrounding myself with enough of the right people and it was stopping me from moving forwards.
I realised that she was right.I had been attending fewer networking events and business workshops, which meant I wasn’t spending as much time with the kind of people who were advising, encouraging and inspiring me previously.
Luckily, once I realised where I was going wrong I was able to start making positive changes. It led to me joining The Simplifiers and working for Mary Baird-Wilcock, CSEP who is the perfect mentor to have as part of me tribe.
I NEED people. We all do.
But we need the right kind of people.
If you’re spending time with negative people who aren’t excited about your plans and ideas, you’re going to get demotivated. #byeFelicia
Equally, if your tribe is made up with people who are comfortable in their situation, not particularly ambitious or looking to make changes, you’re going feel stuck too. We need people who get our creative juices flowing and give us that boost of motivation!
We can achieve amazing things but we can’t do it all on our own.
I’m at my best when I’m surrounded by people who push, encourage and inspire me. I feel happier and excited and I make things happen.
