House on the Hill
Perched on a hill with spectacular views, House on the Hill feels like your own secluded wedding retreat. Not surprising, because this beautiful 10-acre estate can be rented for a full weekend and includes accommodation for up to 20 guests.
Designed by local artist and architect William Hoey, this is a Texas Hill country gem. Southwestern furnishings throughout the property create a relaxed and comfortable vibe that’s a signature feature of House on the Hill. The 2-storey main house has event space, a large kitchen and four bedrooms. The vaulted ceilings and walls of glass create an open spacious feel and guests can enjoy the incredible wrap-around porch which looks out onto the lush estate. Three adjacent cottages provide further guest accommodation or get-ready areas for bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Outside, there is a well-maintained lawn with a beautiful rockwall waterfall that’s perfect for a ceremony for up to 150 people. There’s also a swimming pool and a covered pavilion that can be used for dancing or a seated reception. Strings of lights hung from the oak trees add to the rustic feel and other décor can be brought in. In the event of rain there is plenty of indoor space.
Not surprisingly, this is a very popular venue for weddings or reunions with immediate family or bridal party coming from out-of-town. Once there, guests can relax as the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception can all be hosted on-site.
What makes House on the Hill especially appealing is that the space is yours to do as you please. It’s a very DIY bride friendly venue so you can customize it to best fit your personal vision and budget. There is also no preferred vendor list, although the owners are happy to make recommendations, and beverages can be brought in without restrictions. Another important difference is that there’s no outdoor music cut-off time.
The weekend package is an incredible deal. Starting at $3900, the weekend begins at 4pm on Friday and ends noon on Sunday. Included in the rental is use of the entire property, 24 tables and 150 chairs, full kitchen facilities, towels and toiletries.
As an alternative to the weekend getaway, brides can also rent House on the Hill for a Sunday evening wedding, with the option for an overnight stay. Great deals on weekday pricing (daytime and evening) also make this venue an attractive option for fundraisers, artist retreats and business meetings. Check the website for other seasonal special offers.
This is a highly recommended venue for brides or groups who want the seclusion of the Texas Hill country but to still be close to downtown Austin. House on the Hill is within the Austin City limits and only 1 mile from Loop 360 and Bee Caves road intersection.
