Old School Bar & Grill (Old School) is one of Austin’s historic landmarks and has undergone a transformation from the old Cotton Exchange building on 6th St (Sixth St) to a piece of history that pays homage to the rich musical heritage that the city is known for. In an effort to preserve a piece of Austin’s musical heritage, the owners of Old School Bar & Grill salvaged the dance floor of the famous Armadillo World Headquarters, where famous acts such as Willie Nelson, Frank Zappa, Janis Joplin, & ZZ Top frequented, and had it fabricated into the east wall of the inside of the 6th & Trinity Location. Old School is known for having one of the best patio’s on 6th St (Sixth St). Their patio gives you one of the best views of the iconic Ritz Theater which is right across the street. The upstairs/patio area boasts a 3,000 sq. ft. music/party venue attached to a 1,500 sq. ft. wraparound patio. Old School was an official venue of SXSW and hosted Stubhub Live at Old School which featured the bands Fitz And The Tantrums, The Airborne Toxic Event and The Black Lips.
Old School is also known for their food which features a entirely homemade menu. Their Burgers are unreal not to mention the Steaks and the Club Sandwich. They also serve fresh Salmon and Salads with homemade dressings.
