What’s on in Nottingham? 5 events to try out this week

Contents

This week in Nottingham, we’re going to a Burns Night supper, drawing while socialising, meditating with traditional Chinese tea, making new friends over a philosophical talk, and watching comedy made up on the spot.

We’ve got a busy week ahead planning events in and around Nottingham so we’ve mostly chosen chilled out things to do over the next few evenings. Take a look at the 5 events we’ve chosen this week.

Eat, Chat, Meet some interesting new people.

Tues 24th January – 6:30pm – Blue Stockings Burns Night Supper – Th!nk, Cobden Chambers

We’re currently drooling just thinking about the food by Kiosk we’ll be getting on this night. Beth will doing her own take on a Burns Night supper and there will be lots of opportunities to meet women doing interesting things in Nottingham. This is a women’s only event run by Blue Stockings – a group that we’re members of and love!

Drink, Draw, Socialise.

Thursday 26th January, 7pm- The Drink and Draw Social – Rough Trade

Want to go out for a drink but bored of just sitting in the pub? Get creative! The drawing session starts at 8pm and there’ll be lots of opportunities to interact and chat with other people in the group. All abilities welcome.

Free entry, no ticket required. Find out more HERE

De-stress, unwind, try something new.

Thursday 26th January, 7pm – Chinese Tea Meditation by August Moon Tea – 3rd Floor, 60 Goose Gate

Feeling a little stressed out? Want to try something new? We highly recommend attending one of August Moon’s events! Owner Estelle runs most of these sessions from her intimate and beautiful studio in the city centre – it’s like a hidden oasis of calm!

Try out teas brought over from China and see how it is traditionally prepared. Don’t forget to ask where the teas come from – they’re not anything you can find in a supermarket or even a specialist tea café!

Think, Debate, Have a Drink,

Fri 27th January, 6:30pm – Philosophy Meetup — How do/should we make moral choices? – The Malt Cross

Ok, we have to be honest. We’ve never attended one of the Nottingham Philosophy Meetup events before. However, we’re in the mood to exercise our brains a bit (in a non work related way!) and this sounds like a great way to meet some more interesting people in Nottingham.

Laugh, Relax, Watch a One-off Show.

Sat 28th January, 7:30pm, Improvised Comedy Show – The Nottingham Actors Studio

This is your chance to experience live, in the moment comedy from a group of improvisers who will be making up scenes on the spot based on suggestions from the audience. Who knows what will happen?! What we can say is that it will result in one-off, unique moments of comedy that have never been seen before and will never be seen again.

The last show by this group sold out days in advance so make sure you get your tickets ASAP! Find out more HERE.
