We couldn’t narrow down the list so we’ve got 9 things to do in Nottingham this week! There’s something for everyone so get up off your sofa and try something new!

This week there’s: Musical Comedy, Baking, Art, Singing, Nights out, Film Screenings, Meditation.

Weds, 1st Feb – 7pm – Ersatz Animus – The Orange Tree

A variety of acts with different skill levels – you don’t know what you’ll see and hear! (Actually, we’ve heard whispers about a few of the acts that will be there – and we’re excited!)

Thurs, 2nd Feb – 6pm – Primary Lates – Primary

A lot of people don’t seem to know about this venue – we think they should! Especially because it’s less than a 5 minutes’ walk from Canning Circus. Primary will be opening up its doors to give you a chance to see 4 projects and exhibitions.

PLUS… Small Food Bakery which is housed in the same venue will be giving you the chance to try out your baking skills. How does sourdough calzone and rhubarb fool with fresh fried spiced doughnuts sound? AND you get a pot of sourdough dough to take home with you!

Thurs, 2nd Feb – 6:30pm – SOLD: An anti-trafficking film – Newton & Arkwright building

Childreach International present a film telling the story of a 13 year old girl trafficked to a brothel in India. It stars Gillian Anderson and was produced by Emma Thompson.

The film will be followed by a talk with a panel of local experts including Maggie Throup MP for Erewash and Bishop of Nottingham, The Rt Reverend Patrick McKinney.

Fri, 3rd Feb – 6:30pm – The Place is Here, Exhibition Opening – Nottingham Contemporary

Have a wander around the new art exhibition upstairs before everyone else. Follow it up with a party downstairs with BBC 6Music DJ, Don Letts. We’ve also heard that you might get a free cocktail…

Fri, 3rd Feb – 7pm – I Daniel Blake, Film Screening – Nottingham Arts Theatre

An exclusive event with half of the tickets going to clients from various Nottingham based charities who worked with director Ken Loach to make this film. The rest of the tickets are open to the public and will also include talks from an array of guest speakers!

Fri, 3rd Feb – 8:30pm – Bamalamasingsong – The Rescue Rooms

Brought to you by the brilliant I’m Not From London, Bamalamasingsong is a night out like no other. There’s a live band playing great songs that everyone knows. But… there’s no singer – the crowd sing the songs!

Comedy, Singing, bizarre scenarios.

Sat, 4th Feb – 7:30pm – Improvised Musical Misadventure – Nottingham Playhouse

NEARLY SOLD OUT!

The East Midlands’ only improvised musical company, Rhymes Against Humanity, will interview an audience member and then use that information to inform a fully improvised 45-minute piece of musical theatre.

It will be a unique performance never seen before and never to be seen again with a whirlwind of different locations and characters.
