This week in Nottingham there seems to be endless options for comedy and magic performances. However, we’ve narrowed down the choices for you. Plus we’ve thrown in a film screening in a pub and a meditation workshop just to mix things up a bit.

So, If you’re looking for something different to do in Nottingham, why not try one of these?

Comedy

Mon, 13th March – 7:30pm – Patrick Monahan, That 80s Show – Theatre Royal

The last time we saw Patrick perform in Nottingham, it ended up with one of The Simplifiers volunteering to dance on the stage… By the end of the show, you’ll feel like Patrick is your new best friend and you’ll have laughed so much that it will count as a months worth of ab workouts.

It’s the 1980’s and Patrick’s Irish Iranian family arrive in Teesside escaping from the Iran war. Patrick’s memories and reminiscences of being an immigrant in Great Britain combined with his hilarious, high-energy stand up produces a unique comedy show that will attempt to bring nations together through the power of 80s disco

Magic

Wed, 15th March – 7:30pm – Morgan and West Parlour Tricks – Nottingham Playhouse

This sounds entertaining and kind of weird. So of course we had to include it!

Magicians, Time Travellers and all round spiffing chaps, Morgan and West present a show chock full of jaw-dropping, brain-bursting, gasp-eliciting feats of magic. They offer up a plateful of illusion and impossibility, all served with wit, charm and no small amount of panache.

Another stand up show but this one is about optimism and hopefulness and about looking for people and things to look up to. It’s about wanting more from life than it might be up for giving out.

Sat, 18th March – 6:30pm – Magic Society Gala Show – Lakeside Arts Theatre

We love that both of the Universities in Nottingham host events that are open to the general public including lectures and performances.

This night will include hilarious comedy from escapologist Chris Cross, some astounding feats of the mind from Dr Todd Landman aka the world’s only Academic Magician. Plus, an incredible Laser Magic act from Richard Griffin who has performed for royals, celebrities, and politicians!
